A wealthy land owner who broke with high society, he famously enjoyed daily swims in the icy seas off Kent in England
He often tipped strangers he passed en route with a half crown coin (a huge sum of money at the time)
His peers thought him mad. We prefer to consider him ‘particular’. A tradition we are proud to continue today with our range of perfectly particular Half Crown Gins
